Piedmont Lithium

Developing Our 100%-owned Piedmont Lithium Project in North Carolina

Piedmont Lithium is an emerging lithium chemicals company focused on the development of its 100%-owned Piedmont Lithium Project in North Carolina, with the goal of becoming a strategic domestic supplier of battery-grade lithium hydroxide and other chemicals to the growing electric vehicle and battery storage markets in the United States.

The Piedmont Lithium Project is located in one of the premier regions in the world for lithium exploration, given its favorable geology and ideal location with easy access to infrastructure, power, R&D centers for lithium and battery storage and major high-tech population centers.

From the 1950s to 1990s, two major lithium mines operated in this region. Two significant lithium processing facilities continue to supply lithium products to U.S. and international customers today and are located within 20km of the Piedmont Lithium Project.

With resource updates, permit approvals, metallurgical testwork, and feasibility study scheduled for completion in 2019, our aim is to fast track the Piedmont Lithium Project towards production as a fully-integrated domestic source of battery-grade lithium and capitalize on the widely anticipated shortfall of lithium in global markets over the next decade.

Our leadership team’s successful mining ventures include a multi-decade track record of creating wealth for shareholders in mining ventures, experience in building top-tier management teams in the U.S. and the proven ability to fund exploration and development stage opportunities.

Our Mission – Fully Integrated Lithium Chemical Business

Piedmont Lithium is focused on a fully integrated spodumene-to-hydroxide business model using proven technology to convert spodumene to 22,700 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium hydroxide here in North Carolina.

One of four such projects globally, Piedmont Lithium is the only project in the United States focused on spodumene conversion for the American electric vehicle and battery storage markets.

Operating Within the World-Class Carolina Tin-Spodumene Belt

The Piedmont Lithium Project is located within the world-class Carolina Tin-Spodumene Belt (TSB) and along trend to the Hallman Beam and Kings Mountain mines, historically providing most of the western world’s lithium from the 1950s through the 1980s.  The TSB has been described as one of the largest lithium regions in the world and is located approximately 25 miles west of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Our core landholding currently consists of 1199 acres and we are actively and aggressively adding further options to considerably expand our presence in the region.

U.S. Domestic Lithium Raw Material Supply of Historical Significance

The Piedmont Lithium Project, which consists of options over an initial core landholding is focused on an area that has been explored for lithium dating back to the 1950’s where it was originally explored by Lithium Corporation of America, which was subsequently acquired by FMC Corporation.

Albemarle and FMC continue to operate two of the most important lithium processing facilities which are situated on these sites as a result of the rich deposits of lithium contained in the TSB. These facilities are now at the forefront of lithium research and development with FMC maintaining the Center for Lithium Energy Advanced Research (“CLEAR”) lab in Bessemer City, proximal to the Project. FMC’s Bessemer City lithium processing facility is approximately 14 kilometres from the Project whilst Albemarle’s Kings Mountain lithium processing facility is approximately 17 kilometres from the Project.

The Company is in a unique position to leverage its position as a first mover in restarting exploration in this historic lithium producing region with the aim of developing a strategic, U.S. domestic source of lithium to supply the increasing electric vehicle and battery storage markets.

A Lithium-Rich Region, Significantly Underexplored

Geologically, the Project lies in the Inner Piedmont belt adjacent to the Kings Mountain shear zone, which separates the Inner Piedmont belt from the Kings Mountain belt to the east.

The Company expects to complete its 20,000-meter Phase 3 Drilling Campaign and announce a maiden Resource within Q2 2018.

World Class Infrastructure Advantaged Location

The region is one of the premier localities in the world to be exploring for lithium pegmatites given its favorable geology and ideal location with easy access to infrastructure, power, R&D centers for lithium and battery storage, major high-tech population centers and downstream lithium processing facilities.
